This is a follow-up initiative to three waves of high-frequency phone survey (HFPS) data collection that occurred in 2020 in 13 countries (Phase 1) and another two waves of data collection in 2021 in 24 countries (Phase 2). A single wave was collected for Suriname in July 2022.

Scope
The COVID-19 LAC HFPS for Suriname provides information on the welfare impacts that households experienced with respect to food insecurity, changes in employment, income changes, access to health and education services, and coping mechanisms, among other topics.

Sampling
The size of the selected global sample of telephone numbers for the Suriname survey was based on the previous procedures carried out in phase 1 of HFPS . Please see Sampling Design and Weighting document for Suriname for more detail on sampling procedures.
The Suriname HFPS has three units of analysis: households, adult individuals (18 years of age and older), children 0-5 years old, and children 6 through 17 years of age. Weights were computed for each sample unit and should be used according to the estimate of interest.
The weighting process for Suriname involved five steps:
- Calculation of the inclusion probabilities of cell phone numbers.
- Computation of design weights for households and individuals.
- Weighting of data on children & adolescents.
- Nonresponse adjustment.
- Weight trimming and recalibration.
