How to carry out the investigation</span><br />The following definitions will allow the dwelling's tenure to be investigated correctly:</div><br /><br /><span class="pg">[p. 27]</span><br /><br /><div class="i1">Tenure is understood to be the arrangements by which the household occupies the place of abode. That is, the form in which the household possesses the dwelling.</div><br /><div class="i2"><span class="em">Owned</span>: The dwelling that belongs to a member of the household occupying that dwelling.<br /><br />Included as owned are those dwellings that are being acquired via payments but are not completely paid for.<br /><br /><span class="em">Rented</span>: The dwelling that does not belong to a household member occupying that dwelling and that is being occupied through a payment of rent.<br /><br /><span class="em">Monthly rent</span>: If the dwelling is rented, the amount of monthly rent paid for the right of occupying the dwelling is requested.<br /><br /><span class="em">Other forms of tenure</span>: These are cases where the dwelling does not belong to a household member and is not rented. Such is the case for caretakers or employees whose dwelling is provided by the owner or company.</div><br /><br /><div class="i1"><span class="em">b. How to record the data</span><br />After the tenure is determined, an "X" is marked in the appropriate box. If the dwelling is rented, the amount of monthly rent is recorded in the space provided.<br /><br /><span class="em">c.
