Description

Definition
This derived variable is an estimate of total household income for households with a total monthly income of less than R20 000. It is a combination of earnings reported in Q42asto to Q43salc; income from grants as calculated from Q31bOAG to Q31bGRN, and income from remittances as reported in Q89aRem. Estimated monthly incomes of R20 000 and higher were combined as R20 000, as the questionnaire was not designed to capture incomes from more complex sources such as rentals, interest, etc. that are typical of higher-income households.
Universe
All households in the selected dwelling units.
