Description
Definition
GEOALT_EG1988_2014 indicates the region of Egypt where the respondent was interviewed. The variable is integrated to yield units with consistent boundaries across samples.
Labels identify the modern geographic units (governorates) contained in each integrated region. Each sample also has its own non-integrated geography variable. The 1995, 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2014 samples have greater geographic detail available in their sample-specific variables. An additional integrated variable, GEO_EG1988_2014, contains less geographic detail (grouped governorates).
An integrated GIS map (in shapefile format) for Egypt can be downloaded here [URL omitted from DDI.].
