Description

Definition
HEMOCONSENT (HW52) indicates whether permission was granted for the person's blood to be drawn and tested for hemoglobin level (as an indicator of anemia) or, if not, why not. Interviewers read a statement about hemoglobin testing and requested permission to draw and test the individual's blood for hemoglobin level; blood was drawn only if consent was given by the persons themselves (if adults) or by a parent or guardian (if a minor).
