Description

Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRZM1 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a shop. This response category is country-specific to Zambia.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

DIATRZM1 is combined with DIATRZM2 (market) in DIATRSHOP (all retail outlets) for the 2013 Zambia sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRZM1 are encouraged to review DIATRSHOP for a more comprehensive response category.
