Description

Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRTZ1 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a public referral/specialist hospital for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.

Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

FEVTRTZ1 is combined with FEVTRTZ2 (public regional hospital) and FEVTRTZ3 (public district hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2004 and 2010 Tanzania samples.

Additionally, FEVTRTZ1 is combined with FEVTRTZ2, FEVTRTZ3, and FEVTRTZ4 (public referral regional hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS for the 2015 Tanzania sample.

IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRTZ1 are encouraged to review FEVTRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
