Description

Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRMW2 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a religious health center. This response category is country-specific to Malawi.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

DIATRMW2 is combined with DIATRMW1 (Religious hospital) and DIATRMW3 (Religious mobile clinic) in DIATRPRIVMIS (all faith-based health facilities) for the 2000 and 2004 Malawi samples. Additionally, for the 2010 Malawi sample, DIATRMW2 is combined with DIATRMW1 in DIATRPRIVMIS.

IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRMW2 are encouraged to review DIATRPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.
