Description

Definition
GEO_NP2011 (V101_NP2011) reports the region of Nepal where the respondent was interviewed, using ecological regions (mountains, hills, and terai [plains]) as the units.

Other sample years for Nepal have their own sample-specific geography variables. The 2011 Nepal survey is included in integrated geographic variables, GEO_NP1996_2016, GEO_NP1996_2011, and GEOALT_NP1996_2016, which provide spatially consistent units over time.

A GIS map for GEO_NP2011 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository [URL omitted from DDI.] Boundaries page.
