Description

Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRNP5 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the child received treatment from a private clinic. This response category is country-specific to Nepal.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

DIATRNP5 is combined with DIATRNP4 (private hospital) in DIATRPRIVHOS (all private hospitals and clinics) for the 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2016 Nepal samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRNP5 are encouraged to review DIATRPRIVHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
