Description

Definition
GEO_ZA2016 (V101_ZA2016) reports the region of South Africa where the respondent was interviewed, using provinces as the geographic unit.

Other South African sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. The integrated South African geographic variable GEO_ZA1998_2016 provides spatially consistent units over time for all South African samples.

A GIS map for GEO_ZA2016 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository [URL omitted from DDI.] Boundaries page.
