The World Bank Group Country Opinion Survey Program (COS) is an ongoing effort to systematically gauge and track the perceptions and views of the World Bank Group's clients and partners across the globe, over time. The survey data provide the institution with a more in-depth understanding of the views of stakeholders on issues related to the World Bank's work on the ground (how it operates, its relationships, and its knowledge) and other development-related issues. The program is overseen by the Department of External and Corporate Relations, Business Intelligence Team. This collection hosts open, accessible survey data from 29 countries collected in FY 2012 (July 2011-June 2012), 41 countries in FY 2013 (July 2012-June 2013), 42 countries in FY 2014 (July 2013-June 2014), 35 countries in FY 2015 (July 2014-June 2015), 45 countries in FY 2016 (July 2015-June 2016), 35 countries in FY 2017 (July 2016-June 2017), and 39 countries in FY 2018 (July 2017-June 2018), 42 countries in FY 2019 (July 2018-June 2019), 21 countries in FY 2020 (July 2019-June 2020), 36 countries in FY 2021 (July 2020-June 2021), 23 countries in FY 2022 (July 2021-June 2022) and 30 countries in FY 2023 (July 2022-June 2023). All data will be regularly updated, and more countries will be added as data becomes available.
Abstract
The Country Opinion Survey in São Tomé and Príncipe assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in better understanding how stakeholders in São Tomé and Príncipe perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in São Tomé and Príncipe on 1) their views regarding the general environment in São Tomé and Príncipe; 2) their overall attitudes toward the WBG in São Tomé and Príncipe; 3) overall impressions of the WBG’s effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in São Tomé and Príncipe; and 4) their perceptions of the WBG’s future role in São Tomé and Príncipe.
