Description

Definition
This variable indicates whether the respondent was native-born or foreign-born. For foreign-born respondents, it indicates whether their mothers and/or fathers were native-born or foreign-born.

This variable is constructed from the NAPP variables birthplace (US00A433), mother's birthplace (US00A435), and father's birthplace (US00A437). The U.S. possessions and territories classified as "U.S. outlying areas" in birthplace are considered foreign.
