The baseline sample is comprised of 4,500 agribusiness owners (2,250 men and 2,250 women) within Lagos, Kaduna, Kogi, Cross River, Enugu and Kano states in Nigeria. The sample was defined by sampling from applicant database of the APPEALS WYEP program. Baseline surveys were conducted over the phone prior to the implementation of the socioemotional skills training.
The data consists of responses from agribusiness owners to questions pertaining to (i) business ownership and firm performance; (ii) business practices; (iii) socioemotional skills; (iv) women empowerment and intra-household bargaining; and (v) household income.

The baseline survey was conducted between June-July 2020 over the phone by enumerators due to COVID-19 restrictions.
