Real-Time Development Indicators (RTDI)

The Real-Time Development Indicators (RTDI) collection contains high-frequency datasets that combine direct measurements with modeled estimates to deliver timely, operationally relevant insights on global development conditions.

The collection is maintained by the World Bank’s Development Data Group, and contains datasets that rely on advanced statistical and machine-learning methods to enhance data quality, address outliers, and improve the timeliness and operational relevance of indicators across the full development spectrum.

RTDI datasets are continuously updated and accessible through APIs and interactive tools that support real-time analysis and decision-making. Discontinued series remain available to preserve continuity and reproducibility. Unlike static statistical series, RTDI datasets undergo regular updates and quality-control processes that may adapt over time.

The collection aims to combine real-time analytics and knowledge nowcasting to shift from retrospective reporting to continuously updated, actionable insights by scaling methods across countries to move from one-off products to ongoing, adaptive data and knowledge support.
