Description

Definition
HCRW2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported she has sought medical help at a public provincial or district hospital. This variable is country-specific to Rwanda.

Some samples in the "HC" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCRW2 is combined with HCRW1 (public referral hospital) in HCPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2014 Rwanda sample. IPUMS DHS users interested in using HCRW2 are encouraged to reviewer HCPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
