Description

Definition
GEO_UG2016 (V101_UG2016) indicates the region of Uganda where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 2016 Uganda survey are equivalent to grouped districts.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are also integrated variables GEO_UG1995_2016 and GEO_UG2006_2016, that provide spatially consistent units over time.

A GIS map for GEO_UG2016 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository [URL omitted from DDI.] Boundaries page.
