Description

Definition
GEO_NP1996_2011 reports the subregion in Nepal where the respondent was interviewed, using units with consistent boundaries across samples. The identified units combine the three ecological regions (mountain, hill, and terai/plains) with the five development regions for Nepal.

A second integrated geographic variable for Nepal, GEO_NP1996_2016, provides spatially consistent units over time with less geographic detail, using development regions as the units. A third integrated variable for Nepal, GEOALT_NP1996_2016, identifies the three ecological regions across time. Each Nepalese sample also has its own sample-specific geography variable.

An integrated GIS map (in shapefile format) for Nepal, following the boundaries for GEO_NP1996_2011, can be downloaded here [URL omitted from DDI.].
