Definition
HCMNP8 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency), a non-governmental organization (NGO), as a source for male condoms. This response category is country-specific to Nepal.
Some samples in the "HCM" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
HCMNP8 is combined with other NGOs in the 2001, 2006, and 2011 Nepal surveys:
In the 2001 Nepal survey, HCMNP8 is combined with HCMNP6 (FPAN), HCMNP7 (Marie Stopes), HCMNP9 (Nepal Red Cross), and HCMNP11 (other NGOs) in HCMNGO (all NGOs).
In the 2006 and 2011 Nepal surveys, HCMNP8 is combined with HCMNP6 (FPAN), HCMNP7 (Marie Stopes), HCMNP9 (Nepal Red Cross), HCMNP10 (UMN), and HCMNP11 (other NGOs) in HCMNGO (all NGOs).
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using HCMNP8 are encouraged to review HCMNGO for a more comprehensive response category.
