L'Enquête Démographique et de Santé 1992 est la première EDS réalisée au Niger.

L'EDSN a couvert tous les départements du Niger sauf, dans le département d'Agadez, la zone restante d'Arlit et l'arrondissement de Bilma dans sa totalité. Les zones exclues, essentiellement désertiques et qui représentent environ un tiers de la superficie du pays, représentent moins de 1 pour cent de la population totale.

Face-to-face
Dans le cadre du suivi des travaux sur le terrain, des missions de supervision ont été organisées régulièrement. Ces missions avaient pour but d'apprécier les conditions de travail de chaque équipe, de contrôler la qualité du travail, de résoudre les problèmes éventuels rencontrés par les équipes, de contrôler les moyens mis à leur disposition, de les ravitailler en matériel et de ramener à Niamey les questionnaires des grappes enquêtées.
On appelle erreurs de mesure les biais imputables à la mise en oeuvre de la collecte et de l'exploitation des données telles que l'omission de ménages sélectionnés, la mauvaise interprétation des questions, soit de la part de l'enquêtrice, soit de la part de l'enquêtée, ou encore les erreurs de saisie des données. Quoique tout le possible ait été fait pour minimiser ce type d'erreur pendant la mise en oeuvre de I'EDSN, il est difficile d'éviter et d'évaluer toutes les erreurs de mesure.
