L'Enquête Démographique et de Santé Madagascar 2003-2004 est la troisième EDS réalisée à Madagascar.Elle fait suite à celles réalisées en 1992 et 1997.

L'univers de l'enquête est l'ensemble de la population et au niveau des sous-populations des femmes de 15 à 49 ans (résidentes habituelles ou visiteuses) qui se trouvaient dans les ménages la nuit précédent l'enquête quelque soit le statut et les maris du ménage agés de 15 à 59 ans.

Bien que tout le possible ait été fait pour minimiser ce type d'erreur pendant la mise en oeuvre de l'EDMD-III, il est difficile d'éviter et d'évaluer toutes les erreurs de mesure.
