The survey was also expected to provide reliable and policy relevant agricultural statistics and served as a baseline of information for the \u201cAgenda for Transformation\u201d set by the Government of Liberia. Other components of the HIES included capacity building and cross-country knowledge, sharing alongside efforts to improve survey methodologies in Liberia. Among other features were the design and implementation of a household survey that focused on the household income and expenditure that fed into Consumer Price Index (CPI) construction. The data collection exercise for the survey was conducted from January to December 2014.The survey covered 8,360 randomly selected households over the 12-month period. The objectives of the HIES were:\n\n1. Evaluation and analysis of poverty levels and quality of life at the household level.\n2. Analysis of primary indicators on economic productivity, employment, and social welfare.\n3. Preparation of a 'weighting system' for a Consumer Price Index. \n4. Generation of general economic (macroeconomic) indicators; e.g. estimates of national income. (Gross Domestic Product - GDP) \n5. Analysis of household ownership of productive assets and their linkages with household income activities.","coll_dates":[{"start":"2014-01-01","end":"2015-01-01","cycle":""}],"nation":[{"name":"Liberia","abbreviation":"LBR"}],"geog_coverage":"National","analysis_unit":"- Household\n- Individual","data_kind":"Sample survey data [ssd]","notes":"The HIES 2014 survey covered the following topics: \n- Household demographic characteristics \n- Household roster \n- Household assets \n- Housing, water and sanitation \n- Food security \n- Food consumption outside the household \n- Assistance, groups and other sources of income \n- Education \n- Health \n- Labor \n- Subjective welfare \n- Crop production and sales \n- Livestock, aquatic sales and purchases \n- Cash transfers and gifts \n- Shocks \n- Credit \n- Non-farm enterprises \n- Market prices"},"method":{"data_collection":{"data_collectors":[{"name":"Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services","abbreviation":"LISGIS","affiliation":"Government of Liberia"}],"sampling_procedure":"The main Household Income Expenditure Survey (HIES) was administered to a representative sample of households.
