The Public Opinion Research Group (PORG) surveyed 29 countries in FY2012 (July 2011-June 2012) and 41 countries in FY2013 (July 2012-June 2013). In FY2014, surveys were conducted in 42 countries and in FY2015 - in 35 countries. The Country Opinion Survey in China assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in gaining a better understanding of how stakeholders in China perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in China on 1) their views regarding the general environment in China; 2) their overall attitudes toward the WBG in China; 3) overall impressions of the WBG’s effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in China; and 4) their perceptions of the WBG’s future role in China. Participants were drawn from ministries/ministerial departments; local governments, Project Management Units (PMUs) at both the central and local levels; the Central Bank; financial sector/banks; private sector organizations; NGOs; the regulatory agency; state-owned enterprises; bilateral/multilateral agencies; consultants/contractors working on WBG-supported projects/programs; the media; academia/research institutes/think tanks; and other organizations. Data were weighted to reach the same stakeholder composition in two years, which allows for year comparisons.
