The Public Opinion Research Group (PORG) surveyed 29 countries in FY2012 (July 2011-June 2012) and 41 countries in FY2013 (July 2012-June 2013). In FY2014, surveys were conducted in 42 countries and in FY2015 - in 35 countries. "Don't know" is coded as "11." - Yes/No questions: "Yes" is coded as "1," "No" is coded as "2." The Country Opinion Survey in Gambia assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in gaining a better understanding of how stakeholders in Gambia perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in Gambia on: 1) their views regarding the general environment in Gambia; 2) their overall attitudes toward the WBG in Gambia; 3) overall impressions of the WBG’s effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in Gambia; 4) their perceptions of the WBG’s future role in Gambia. Stakeholders of the World Bank Group in Gambia The scope of the study includes: - General issues facing the Gambia - Overall attitudes toward the World Bank Group - World Bank Group's effectiveness and results - The World Bank Group's knowledge work and activities - Working with the World Bank Group - The future role of the World Bank Group in the Gambia - Communication and information sharing - Background information Gabriel Gomez (consultant) From June to September 2015, 657 stakeholders of the WBG in The Gambia were invited to provide their opinions on the WBG's work in the country by participating in a country opinion survey. Participants were drawn from the Office of the President/Prime Minister; office of a minister; office of a parliamentarian; ministries/ministerial departments; Project Management Units (PMUs) overseeing implementation of WBG projects; consultants/contractors working on WBG-supported projects/programs; local governments; bilateral/multilateral agencies; private sector organizations; private foundations; the financial sector/private banks; non-profit organizations/community based organizations; the media; independent government institutions; trade unions; faith-based groups; youth groups; academia/research institutes/think tanks; the judiciary branch; and other organizations. A total of 274 stakeholders participated in the survey (42% response rate). Other [oth] English Face-to-face and email. The results of 2015 Country Survey were compared to those in the Country Survey conducted in FY2012 (response rate is 60%, N=150). Data were weighted to reach the same stakeholder composition in two years, which allows for year comparisons. Stakeholder groups which were not present in both fiscal years were not included in the comparison. Respondents who belonged to the "other" stakeholder category were not included either. As a result, means of the FY2015 data and the total number of respondents in both years are slightly different from those of the original data reported in appendices A, B, C, D, and F in the report.
