The Public Opinion Research Group surveyed 29 countries in FY2012 (July 2011-June 2012), 41 countries in FY2013 (July 2012-June 2013), 42 countries in FY2014 (July 2013-June 2014), 35 countries in FY2015 (July 2014-June 2015), 45 countries in FY2016 (July 2015-June 2016), 35 countries in FY2017 (July 2016-June 2017), and 39 countries in FY2018 (July 2017-June 2018). In FY2019, surveys were conducted in 42 countries. Nearly all of the World Bank Group's client countries are surveyed in every three year cycle. v01, edited anonymous dataset for public distribution Coding schemes of output data: - Single-choice questions: Response options are coded according to corresponding numbers in the questionnaire. - Multiple-choice questions: When a response option is checked, it is coded as "1," when a response option is not checked, it is coded as "0." - 10-point scale questions: "1" corresponds to the lowest value, "10" corresponds to the highest value. "Don't know" is coded as "11." - Yes/No questions: "Yes" is coded as "1," "No" is coded as "2." The Country Opinion Survey in Malaysia assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in gaining a better understanding of how stakeholders in Malaysia perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in Malaysia on: 1) Their views regarding the general environment in Malaysia; 2) Their overall attitudes toward the WBG in Malaysia; 3) Overall impressions of the WBG's effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in Malaysia; and 4) Their perceptions of the WBG's future role in Malaysia. Sample survey data [ssd] The scope of the study includes: - General Issues Facing Malaysia - Overall Attitudes toward the World Bank Group in Malaysia - The World Bank Group Global Knowledge and Research Hub in Malaysia - The World Bank Group’s Knowledge Work and Activities - The Future Role of the World Bank Group in Malaysia - Communication and Information Sharing - Background Information Frost and Sullivan GIC Malaysia PLC From March through May 2019, 1,753 stakeholders of the WBG in Malaysia were invited to provide their opinions on the WBG’s work in the country by participating in a Country Opinion Survey. Participants were drawn from the Office of the Prime Minister; office of a Minister; office of a Parliamentarian; ministries/ministerial departments/implementation agencies; Project Management Units (PMUs) overseeing implementation of projects or consultants/contractors working on WBG-supported projects/programs; local governments; bilateral and multilateral agencies; private sector organizations; private foundations; the financial sector/private banks; NGOs and community-based organizations; the media; independent government institutions; trade unions; faith-based groups; youth groups; academia/research institutes/think tanks; and judiciary branch. Internet [int] The questionnaire is in English and it is provided as related material. The results of this year's Country Survey were compared to those of the Country Survey conducted in FY '16 (response rate was 30%, N = 258). The data were weighted to reach similar stakeholder compositions across both survey years, allowing for more statistically reliable comparisons. Note, stakeholders who identified themselves as “Other” in the stakeholder category options were not included in these comparisons. As a result, mean ratings, percentages of respondents, and the total number of respondents in both years are slightly different from those of the original data reported in the FY '16 COS report and the non-weighted data presented in this report.
