The camp hosts Eritrean refugees having different ethnic groups where the majorities are Tigrigna and Saho and some minorities of Tigre and Belian. \n\nThe main objective of this survey was to collect data and information on water, sanitation, and coverage in the Adi-Harush Refugee camp in 2017 and to have base line data for the 2018 interventions. The total sample size was 175 households.\n\nThe study revealed the gravity of the identified problems, which are latrine coverage, safe water management at home level, hand washing practice, and the risk of diarrhea disease.","coll_dates":[{"start":"2017-12-18","end":"2017-12-20","cycle":""}],"nation":[{"name":"Ethiopia","abbreviation":"ETH"}],"geog_coverage":"Adi-Harush camp, Shire","analysis_unit":"Household","notes":"The survey includes the following topics:\n- Household main characteristics\n- Sources of drinking and non-drinking water\n- Information about water collection\n- Hygiene of drinking water\n- General hygiene practices\n- Hand-washing habits and knowledge\n- Defecation habits and latrine types\n- Waste disposal\n- Diarrhoea"},"method":{"data_collection":{"data_collectors":[{"name":"International Rescue Committee","abbreviation":"IRC","affiliation":""}],"sampling_procedure":"The survey was conducted by systematic random sampling method in which all of the households in the refugee camp have same chance to be selected. A total of 9 persons took part in the survey: 7 interviewers, 1 supervisor and 1 IRC national staff (sanitation officer). Participants of the survey were selected from local community components with knowledge of the local language in order to minimize respondent and interviewer bias and avoid inaccurate posing of questions and recording of responses.
