This survey was conducted in the 3 camps and 2 reception areas for Malian refugees (Abala, Tabarbarey, Mangaïzé, Intikan and Tazalit) in Niger that includes 54,859 refugees (11,362 households). The survey was jointly conducted by UNHCR, the World Food Programme (WFP), UN Childrens Fund (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Health. Data collection in the Malian camps took place from May 30 to June 19, 2016 with the main objective of assessing the prevalence of global and severe acute malnutrition by age group and sex.
The scope of the survey includes:
- Children 0-23 months: feeding practices
- Children 6-59 months: prevalence of acute malnutrition, underweight, stunting and anaemia, coverage of vit A supplementation, and prevalence of diarrhoea
- Chidlren 9-59 months: coverage of measles vaccination
- Women 15-49 years: prevalence of anaemia
- Households: water, sanitation and hygiene information
The sample size was calculated individually for each camp using the ENA for SMART software.
