The majority of refugees were from the Great Lakes Region, namely Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. The previous nutrition survey conducted in October 2010 found a stable level of acute malnutrition, but a high level of both chronic malnutrition amongst children, and anaemia amongst both children and adult women.
