Description

Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRBD7 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a traditional homeopathic doctor. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

For the 1997, 2000, and 2007 Bangladesh samples, DIATRBD7 is combined with DIATRBD8 (traditional practitioner) in DIATRPRIVHL (all traditional practitioners/healers). IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRBD7 are encouraged to review DIATRPRIVHL for a more comprehensive response category.
