    Abstract
The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched a household survey between 28 November and the 31 December 2022 to monitor agricultural livelihoods and food security in Zimbabwe. A total of 1534 respondents were interviewed. The survey is representative at the administrative level 1 (province level). Eight out of 10 provinces (excluding Harare and Bulawayo metropolitan provinces) were surveyed. For more information, please go to https://data-in-emergencies.fao.org/pages/monitoring

    Sampling

    Weighting

Weights were applied to correct for the disproportionate probabilities of selection of the population at admin 1 level, and also oversampling due to imposing quotas to agricultural households for each admin 1 unit. Post-stratification weights were taken into account for the computation of the final weights, to correct for biases that may result from non-response. For post-stratification weights, wealth proxies(access to electricity) were considered at admin 1 level.

    Methodology notes

The dataset was anonymized using Statistical Disclosure methods by the Data in Emergencies Hub team and reviewed by the Office of Chief Statistician at FAO. All direct identifiers have been removed prior to data submission.
In addition, recoding and local suppressions were applied to ensure data confidentiality. Recoding was especially applied to the education, marital status, residence status and source of light variables.
