    Series Information

This survey is a follow-up initiative to the final delivery of the series of LAC: COVID-19 High Frequency Monitoring Project (Phase1 - P173987) & (Phase 2- P175839).

    Abstract
After implementing Phase 1 of the High-Frequency Phone Survey (HFPS) project in Latin America and The Caribbean in 2020, the World Bank conducted Phase 2 in 2021 to continue to assess the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on households. The Phase 2, conducted in partnership with the UNDP LAC Chief Economist office, included two waves. Wave 1 covering 24 countries. Wave 2 collected between October and December 2021, covering 22 countries. Of these countries, 13 participated in Phase 1: Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru. Countries that joined in Phase 2 are: Antigua & Barbuda and Brazil (only in Wave 1), Belize, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, St. Lucia and Uruguay. Wave 5, collected in Haiti in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank between May and August 2025, is part of a series of follow-up initiatives to the two waves of data collection that occurred in 2021 and 2022.

    Scope

    Notes

The Haiti 2025 HFPS for Haiti collects information on changes in employment, income, and prices; food insecurity; access to health care, education, and social protection; coping mechanisms; and disaster risk management, among other topics. These data allow users to compare selected indicators of household and individual living conditions with those collected in the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 HFPS waves. In addition, Wave 5 gathered information on governance and trust in institutions. As in previous waves, the survey is representative of individuals aged 18 years and older who have access to an active mobile phone or a landline. An improvement to the sampling methodology also allows Wave 5 to produce representative estimates for school-age children and adolescents in the education module, as well as for children under age 5 in the childcare module.

    Sampling

    Sampling Procedure

The size of the selected global sample of telephone numbers for Wave 5 (cellular and landline phones) was based on the previous procedures carried out in phases 1 and 2 of the HFPS in order to collect information for about 2,800 individuals. Please see Sampling Design and Weighting document for more detail on the sampling procedures for Wave 5.

    Weighting

The Haiti 2025 HFPS includes two sample units: households and individuals. Sampling weights were computed for each unit and should be used according to the estimate of interest. The weighting process follows five steps: 1. Estimation of cell phone inclusion probabilities. 2. Computation of design weights for households and individuals. 3. Adjustment for nonresponse. 4. Calibration using external population data (adjusted for national phone coverage). 5. Trimming and recalibration of weights. For a detailed description, see the sample design and weighting procedures for the Haiti 2025 HFPS.
