These questions are intended to identify the sociocultural background of the households. Some sociocultural groups tend to be more vulnerable or disadvantaged than others. Depending on the criteria used in your country to differentiate between these groups, you may want to delete one or two of these questions if only one of them is sufficient, or add a similar question which uses a criterion other than religion, ethnic group or mother tongue.
