Definition
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADBF1 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a public health center for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Burkina Faso.
Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
STIADBF1 is combined with STIADBF2 (Center for Health and Social Advancement) and STIADBF3 (Maternal and child health center) in STIADPUBHC (public health center) for the 1998 Burkina Faso sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using STIADBF1 are encouraged to review STIADPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category.
