Definition
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADBD12 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a NGO fieldworker for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.
Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
STIADBD12 is combined with STIADBD10 (NGO static clinic), STIADBD11 (NGO satellite clinic), STIADBD13 (NGO depot holder), and STIADBD14 (Other NGO) in STIADNGO (all NGOs) for the 2011 Bangladesh sample. Additionally, STIADBD12 is combined with STIADBD10 and STIADBD11 in STIADNGO for the 2014 Bangladesh sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using STIADBD12 are encouraged to review STIADNGO for a more comprehensive response category.
