Description

Definition

For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRBD4 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from some "other" nongovernmental organization (NGO) source. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

For the 2007, 2011, and 2014 Bangladesh samples, DIATRBD4 is combined with DIATRBD1 (NGO static clinic), DIATRBD2 (NGO satellite clinic), and DIATRBD3 (NGO fieldworker) in DIATRNGO (all nongovernmental organizations).

IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRBD4 are encouraged to review DIATRNGO for a more comprehensive response category.
