Definition

For children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRBD16 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a specialized government hospital. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.

Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

FEVTRBD16 is combined with FEVTRBD14 (government hospital) and FEVTRBD15 (public district hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2011 Bangladesh sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRBD16 are encouraged to review FEVTRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
