Definition
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADBD2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a public district hospital for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.
Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
STIADBD2 is combined with STIADBD1 (public medical college hospital) and STIADBD3 (public specialized government hospital) in STIADPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2011 Bangladesh sample. Additionally, STIADBD2 is combined with STIADBD1 in STIADPUBHOS for the 2014 Bangladesh sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using STIADBD2 are encouraged to review STIADPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
