Definition
For women who gave birth in the last 5 years and who received antenatal care during a pregnancy, ANCEG6_ALL indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported receiving such care from some "other NGO." This response category is country-specific to Egypt.
ANCEG6_ALL consists of a set of up to six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (ANCEG6_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., ANCEG6_02, ANCEG6_03, ANCEG6_04, ANCEG6_05, and ANCEG6_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If ANCEG6_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables are included in a researcher's data file.
Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
ANCEG6_ALL is combined with ANCEG5_ALL (CSI project) in ANCNGO_01 (all NGOs) for the 2005, and 2008, and 2014 Egypt samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCEG6_01 are encouraged to review ANCNGO_01 for a more comprehensive response category.
