Description

Definition
TBTRSECTOR indicates whether a person reportedly "suffering from tuberculosis" received medical treatment for the illness and, if so, whether such treatment was from the private or public sector.

These data were collected by asking the respondent for the household survey whether any regular household members were suffering from tuberculosis, and, if so, recording their line number(s) from the household listing. The interviewer then asked the follow-up questions, "Has (NAME) received medical treatment for the tuberculosis? Where did (NAME)?" and categorized the treatment places as public, private, or both.

Because the initial query was supposed to refer to TB among usual household members, researchers may wish to exclude temporary visitors using the HHRESIDENT variable.
