Definition
For children born in the 3 to 5 years before the survey, VACOPVDPTB indicates whether the child has received a booster dose of a DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus) and an oral polio vaccination. The booster dose is an extra vaccination after an earlier primary dose or series.
The oral polio vaccination primary series usually consists of a birth dose and 3 additional administrations. The variables VACOPV0 (H0), VACOPV1 (H4), VACOPV2 (H6), and VACOPV3 (H8) report the birth, first, second, and third administrations, respectively.
The DPT vaccination primary series usually consists of 3 administrations, and the variables VACDPT1 (H3), VACDPT2 (H5), and VACDPT3 (H7) report the first, second, and third administrations, respectively.
VACOPVDPTB uses composite coding, with a first digit of 2 indicating the child has been vaccinated and the second digit indicating the source of information (a dated entry on the vaccination card, an undated mark on the vaccination card, or the mother's report).
