Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRTZ12 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a private pharmacy for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FEVTRTZ12 is combined with FEVTRTZ13 (private dispensary) in FEVTRPRIVDRUG (all private, formal drug sources) for the 2004 and 2010 Tanzania samples.
Additionally, FEVTRTZ12 is combined with FEVTRTZ14 (ADDO [accredited drug dispensing outlet]) in FEVTRPRIVDRUG for the 2015 Tanzania sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRTZ12 are encouraged to review FEVTRPRIVDRUG for a more comprehensive response category.
