216) RECORD RESULT BASED ON TDR MALARIA PAMPHLET. [##translator Note: TDR may refer to the "Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases" affiliated with the WHO, but I couldn't figure out how to make that fit with the sentence logically. Otherwise, I couldn't find what it stands for).

Description

Definition
MLTRAPIDRES (HML35) indicates whether the household member tested positive for malaria in the rapid test.

The rapid diagnostic test (RDT) detects specific antigens (foreign substances provoking an immune response in the body) produced by malaria parasites, and reports the presence of those antigens via a color change within a few minutes after a drop of blood has been placed on an absorbing strip. The rapid test does not require access to laboratory facilities and thus can be done in the field.
