Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRAO4 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a private health center/post for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Angola.
A few samples ask separately about drugs taken for fever and drugs taken for cough. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in composite coding. A first digit of 1 indicates the child received the drug, and the second digit indicates the child's illness. For example, a code of "11" indicates the child was given the drug for a fever, a code of "12" indicates the child was given the drug for a cough, and a code of "14" indicates the child was given the drug for both a fever and a cough. See Comparability for more information.
