Definition

For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRBI6 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the child was reported to have received treatment from a registered (confessional) hospital. This response category is country-specific to Burundi.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

DIATRBI6 is combined with DIATRBI7 (registered health center) and DIATRBI8 (other registered medical sector) in DIATRPRIVMIS (all faith-based facilities) for the 2016 Burundi sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRBI6 are encouraged to review DIATRPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.
