Definition
HWMBPRESULT reports the referral reading from the male household member's blood pressure measurements, indicating the man's blood pressure category and referral recommendation (when the fieldworker recommends the household member consult a health provider to check their blood pressure). The classification for an individual is based on whichever of the two values measured (systolic or diastolic pressure) is in a higher category. The categories are:
Normal, optimal (below 120/80) - Referral: 1 year
Normal, mildly high (below 130/85) - Referral: 1 year
Normal, moderately high (130-139 / 85-89) - Referral: 2 months
Abnormal, mildly elevated (140-159 / 90-99) - Referral: 1 month
Abnormal, moderately elevated (160-179 / 100-109) - Referral: 1 day/immediately OR 1 week
Abnormal, severely elevated (180 or higher / 110 or higher) - Referral: Immediately
This summary variable is based on the average of three blood pressure measurements.
