<p>The information you record in this section is for each household in a dwelling.</p>

<p><span class="em">7. Total number of rooms</span>
<br />Ask, "how many rooms are there in the household, not including the bathroom or the kitchen?"</p>

<p>[A graphic of question 7, from section 4 of the census form, is included here.]</p>

<p>For the purpose of the census, a room is defined as a space located within a dwelling, enclosed by walls that go from the floor to either the roof or a height of two meters, and which has enough floor space to fit an adult-size bed.</p>

<p>The following are considered rooms: bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, rooms intended for lodging persons, rooms for domestic employees, and private study.</p>

<p>Do not include bathrooms, hallways or corridors, garages, kitchens, or rooms used exclusively for commercial, industrial or professional purposes.
