Notes
Fertility preferences. This variable comes primarily from a single question in the DHS II questionnaires. This is the same question used in the DHS I Model "B" questionnaire. However, for DHS I Model "A" questionnaires, this variable was constructed from a series of questions. Women who respond that they want another child, but when asked when they would like the next child, respond that they cannot get pregnant, are classified in the "declared infecund category", and not in the "Wants another" category. These women can be identified in variable V616, where the original response to the question asking how long they would like to wait before having another child is recorded.
