Generating Expenditure Data on Vietnam (LSMS 92-93)

The following 6 do-files can be used to create the annual household expenditure variables for different items The last do-file creates the total annual household expenditure variable and should be compiled after all the others have been run. The contents of the files are as follows:

FOODX.DO - creates annual food expenditure variable from section 11a & b.
NFOODX1.DO - creates annual non-food and durable goods expenditure variables from section 12a, b, & c.
NFOODX2.DO - creates annual expenditure variables for education, health, and utilities from sections 2, 3, & 6.
NFOODX3.DO - creates annual expenditure variable for in kind wages from section 4b, & e.
NFOODX4.DO - creates imputed rented variables using 2 and 3 percent as rent-to-housevalue ratios from section 6.
HHEXPEN.DO - creates the total annual household expenditure (nominal and real) variable using the outputs of the above do-files.
