Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRET2 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a "NGO health facility" for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Ethiopia.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FEVTRET2 is combined with FEVTRET1 (NGO community-based outlet) and FEVTRET3 (other NGO) in FEVTRNGO (all NGOs) for the 2000 Ethiopia sample.
Additionally FEVTRET2 is combined with FEVTRET4 (VCHW [voluntary community health worker]) in FEVTRNGO for the 2011 Ethiopia sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRET2 are encouraged to review FEVTRNGO for a more comprehensive response category.
