Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRZW1 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a public central hospital for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Zimbabwe.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FEVTRZW1 is combined with FEVTRZW2 (public provincial hospital) and FEVTRZW3 (public district/rural hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 1994, 1999, and 2005 Zimbabwe samples.
Additionally, FEVTRZW1 is combined with FEVTRZW2, FEVTRZW4 (public district hospital), and FEVTRZW5 (public rural hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS for the 2010 Zimbabwe sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRZW1 are encouraged to review FEVTRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
